Tuner-G ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS guitar tuner application.
Information We Collect
Microphone Access
Tuner-G requires access to your device's microphone to detect audio input from your instrument for pitch detection and tuning functionality. This audio is:
- Processed locally on your device in real-time
- Never recorded, stored, or transmitted
- Used exclusively for pitch detection during active tuning sessions
- Immediately discarded after processing
User Preferences
The app stores your settings and preferences locally on your device using UserDefaults:
- Selected instrument and tuning preferences
- Reference pitch (A4) settings
- Sensitivity and algorithm choices
- Theme preferences (dark/light mode)
- Notation preferences (sharps/flats)
- Purchase status (tip jar donations)
This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to external servers.
In-App Purchases
Tuner-G offers optional in-app purchases (tips) to remove advertisements and support development. Purchase transactions are handled securely by Apple through StoreKit and are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information.
Third-Party Services
Google AdMob
Tuner-G displays advertisements using Google AdMob for users who have not made a donation. AdMob may collect and use data in accordance with Google's privacy policies:
- Device information (model, OS version)
- App usage information
- Ad interaction data
We have configured AdMob to serve non-personalized ads only, which means ads are not based on your past behavior or interests. For more information, please review:
Note: Ads are permanently removed after any tip jar purchase.
Data We Do NOT Collect
Tuner-G does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Personal identification information
- Audio recordings from your microphone
- Location data
- Contacts or photos
- Usage analytics or tracking data
- Email addresses or account credentials
Data Security
All app settings and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's secure UserDefaults system. No data is transmitted to external servers or third parties, except as required for ad delivery (AdMob) and in-app purchases (Apple StoreKit).
Children's Privacy
Tuner-G does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app is suitable for all ages and does not require user registration or personal information.
Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Microphone Access: You can revoke microphone permissions at any time through iOS Settings > Tuner-G > Microphone
- App Settings: All preferences are stored locally and can be reset by deleting and reinstalling the app
- Ad Preferences: Non-personalized ads are shown by default. You can remove ads entirely by making any tip jar purchase
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
